Harvest Point Church in McDonough Harvest Point Church in McDonough is starting a new Bible Study class every Sunday from 9:25 to 10:25. Dee Ann Harmon will be teaching and our focus is for deaf teenagers to learn more about the bible, and the study of God's Word through visual examples, drama, written presentation, and of course signing the story. If you have a teenager that is interested, we would love to have them come. We also have the church service interpreted every Sunday at 10:30. The pastor, Steven, is hearing, but he makes the messages come alive with visual examples. He has a blend of teaching and applying the bible to real life situations. For directions visit http://www.harvestpointonline.com, or contact Susan Holly susan@thehollys.net. God is Awesome. |

Grace Church (Perry, Georgia) At the new home of Grace Church on Houston Lake Road, two signs lining the driveway announce “Services Interpreted in ASL” and thus declare a new ministry in Perry. ASL is the acronym for American Sign Language; the third most used language in the United States (behind English and Spanish). Sundays at 11:00 a.m., Grace Church will interpret its morning worship in ASL. This Deaf ministry will provide the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community in Houston County a place to worship and fellowship in the Perry area. Currently, Southside Baptist Church, Friendship Baptist Church, and Shirley Hills Baptist Church in Warner Robins offer interpreted services, but no churches in Perry are known to have this ministry. Grace Church recently relocated from Rozar Park Recreational Department, where they having been meeting for the past three years, into their new church at 1736 Houston Lake Road. “These are exciting times for us,” said the pastor, Ed McMinn. “We could not have envisioned three and one half years ago that God would lead us to this place at this time. Our philosophy all along has been to just ‘hold on’ while God controls the reins.” If you would like more information about the Deaf Ministry or the church, please contact the pastor at 478-987-4722 (voice), 478-747-6123 (text), or mcminns@tmail.com (email). (This is the local newspaper announcement that is running this week – I hope that you will, also, please help us spread the word through the Deaf community. We aren’t very experienced signers yet, but we love the Lord and we love being in the Deaf community and we hope everyone will be patient with us as we learn and grow! Thank you!
